Much like the game of telephone we all played in elementary school, Narrative Telephone involves a group of friends telling and re-telling a short story from one person to the next; with only their memory to help them recount what they heard. As the story inevitably changes and distorts it becomes more and more outlandish and hilarious. They then gather to watch the results and react, comment, commiserate, and joke about the chaos that ensues.

An unfinished game of Chess of Death from five hundred years ago was said to hold the clue to a buried treasure and Lin Shuang Sword was the key to the game. Anyone who could finish this game would obtain enough wealth to take over the world. Five hundred years later, Ren Qian Xin was ordered to find Lin Shuang Sword. Ren was madly in love with Liu Yi Yi. But the woman's heart was on his honorary brother, Yan Cang Feng. The despaired Ren challenged Yan to the Chess of Death.

Ironically, the art detective Johann Friedrich von Allmen is staying in a high-end Zurich hotel when a million-dollar dahlia painting disappears from the private suite of the owner. What would be more obvious to the eccentric Dahlia Gutbauer than to entrust "Allmen International Inquiries" with the discreet replacement?

Hairy and rowdy creatures called rolleys sail to a land inhabited by more peace-loving elves. When the rolleys arrive to the elf village, they scare the elves away and settle down in the village. One of the elves, Milli, a brave elf girl, returns to the village to make a peace with the rolleys. The rolleys do not warm to Milli's peace proposal, but she becomes friends with a rolley called Rölli. It becomes their mission to solve the conflict between the elves and the rolleys.
